Private Events
Andy Cooney also has a band specializing in Private Parties, Corporate Events and Weddings. Of course Irish American Weddings are our specialty, our band also performs at regular American Weddings.
Our Irish Band consists of Guitar/Vocals, Sax/Flute, Accordion, Drums/Vocals and myself on Keyboards and Vocals. For regular American Weddings, we have a female singer that performs anything from Celine Dion to Aretha Franklin.
BAND MEMBERS: Matt Fisher on Sax, Flute, and Vocals, Colm Graham or William Van Auken on Guitar and Vocals, Jimmy Kelly on Drums and Vocals, Susan Wendelken or Amy Forster on Female Vocals, and Andy Cooney on Lead Vocals, Keyboards, and Master of Ceremonies. If you are interested in having Accordion or Fiddle, we can accommodate it, we usually use Brendan O’Sullivan, Paddy Noonan, Pat Keogh or Martin “Buddy” Connolly.

WEDDING COMMENTS
We just wanted to thank you so much for everything you did for us on our wedding day! The entire band did an amazing job. Our friends and family have not stopped talking about how great you were.
Your band had already come highly recommended from several others who have had you at their weddings, but when we saw you up at my family reunion last year at Gavin’s, we knew that you were the eclectic band that we had been searching for! We could not get over how kind and humble you were either.
You all went ABOVE AND BEYOND by staying the extra time when the hall wanted to extend the party for us because they felt so bad about the group of air conditioning vents that didn’t work on that ridiculously hot day. Meanwhile the vents that were not working were the ones up near you, but you did not complain. You still played your hearts out and then stayed even longer than you needed to. We can’t thank you enough!
Chrissy (Vann) & Matthew Schroy ~ Bayville, NY ~ June 29,2012
Jim and I could never thank you and the band enough Andy, for making our 50th more than we ever thought it would be!!!!!!!! I have had so many compliments on your band and the great job you all did to make that happen. We will always have the most wonderful memories of the day with all of our family and dearest friends with us and your wonderful music. Your kept the dance floor full from beginning to end with so many great songs, especially The Voyage for Jim and I. Many of our guests had not seen you perform before, but by days end you had 64 new fans who left Christo’s singing your praises!!!!!!!! When Jim and I first met Andy on a music cities tour in Nashville 4 years ago, I told Jim that I wanted Andy to play for our 50th which was still a ways away . and 4 years flew by and we made it happen.! There’s no way our party would have been the success that it was without Andy, Jimmy, Matty and Colm. YOU’RE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait for the next party! We Love You Guys…….
Thanks again, Jim and Maureen Buckley 50th Anniversary Party, April 3, 2011. Christo’s, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
How do you know if a band is great? If you call upon them for the second time, two years in a row, to play for your next child’s wedding!
Andy, you did it again! Family, friends, and guests have all been calling with their positive comments about my son’s wedding. On the top of the list is the Andy Cooney Band and how much fun they had on the dance floor. You delighted audiences of all ages with your wonderful musical versatility. “Daughter of Mine” was a most impressive presentation as Veronique and her Dad waltzed on the dance floor. Your professionalism in accompanying my sister and I to sing our song “Today” as well as the groom’s singing dedication to his new bride with “Can’t Help Falling In Love” added a personal touch to the wedding reception, seldom seen in weddings today. You paid close attention to our list of requests made prior to the wedding day, and were able to accommodate those impromptu ones as well. A special thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to sing “The Irish Wedding Song” at the Mass at St. Brigids. Your combined humility and talent are sincerely acknowledged and appreciated by all.
Unfortunately, I am running out of children soon to be married! But I assure you that I will be recommending you to anyone planning a wedding or special event requiring music. I am also certain that the many happy guests who asked about the Andy Cooney band from the last two Urban family weddings will be contacting you in the future.
Thank you and God Bless, Arleen Urban, mother of the groom, Garden City, NY, April 2, 2011 Wedding of Dan and Veronique
Just a quick email before hopping a plane for our honeymoon… THANK YOU!!!! You & your band were fabulous! I think each & every one of our guests commented how fabulous you & the band were. You kept our reception rockin! We really enjoyed & appreciated all that you did to make our wedding reception so special. A while ago up at Gavin’s you said to me it was tough to break into Connecticut – well last night you did – mission accomplished – as you now have 140 new fans in CT promoting you! I have a great pix of your group that I’ll send when I get back from Puerto Rico.

There are wedding bands, and then there is ANDY COONEY! I cannot tell you how delighted we were to have our daughter’s reception lead by the music of such a professional. The phone hasn’t stopped ringing, the emails and letters are still coming in complimenting our daughter’s wedding and the wonderful band that kept the dance floor filled with happy guests and dancing feet. Andy certainly knows how to please a crowd of all ages. The music appealed to everyone, and the wedding was customized to our requests. Although known for his Irish music, Andy’s unique versatility provided us with a totally American wedding, featuring everything from party rock, love songs, and even accompaniment music for our son to sing a dedication song to his sister. What an honor to have a singer whose experience includes world-wide tours, televised appearances and concerts at Carnegie Hall! If it wasn’t for the fact that our son had booked Andy Cooney for his wedding next year, we would be saddened by the fact that this evening of music had come to an end. Traditionally, a couple books his wedding date with his church, reception hall, and then the band, in that order. Our son said, “I’m booking Andy first, and then we’ll talk to the priest and the caterers.” Why? Because the success of a wedding is dependent upon the quality of the music, the talent of the musicians and singers, and the personality of the MC. Andy Cooney and his band have all of those qualities plus more. Thank you, Andy, for being part of our daughter’s most important day of her life, and for sharing your talent with so many happy guests who will never forget the fun they had at Nancy and Stephen’s wedding as they danced the night away!
–Arleen Urban, mother of the bride, Garden City, NY, April 17, 2010
Wedding of Nancy and Stephen
Katie and I just wanted to thank you again for the fantastic job you did at our wedding a few weeks ago. You helped to make it fun. I was amazed that you were able to play for so many hours without taking a break. I can not tell you the number of compliments I have received about how great you were. I hope to see you at Gavin’s in the future.
Wedding of Thomas Magaldi and Kate Boyle, Warwick Country Club, Warwick, RI, July 3, 2009
Mike and I will never be able to thank you and your band enough for the AMAZING job you did at our wedding on December 20th in Philadelphia!!!!! I apologize that we did not thank you in person!
We had the time of our lives – as did our guests – and the night flew by! The dance floor was crowded from beginning to end – just as we hoped it would be. Your song selection was fantastic and the music/vocals were spectacular! We could not have had more fun. Thank you!
It was very special to me that you were a part of our day. I’m aware that my dad shared with you that my mother and your mother became friends at Kelly Regan’s wedding in May 1996. By having you play at our wedding – it was like our mothers were on the dance floor together – just as they were 12 years ago.
Happy New Year to you and your family! Thank you for giving Mike and me a Dream-Come-True wedding celebration. We will never forget it!
We wish you much success in the future!
God Bless – Kristine and Mike O’Connor, Philadelphia, PA, December 20, 2008
Thank you so much for coming out to Phoenix to play for our wedding reception. We feel so blessed to have had such an amazing day! The music was perfect, exactly what we were hoping for but better than we could have imagined. You made the reception so brilliant, we can’t thank you enough. We hope to enjoy your music again someday. We are so grateful, thank you!
All the best, Brian and Sarah Sakalanski, Phoenix, AZ, April 5, 2008
All of us up here, in Auburn NY, want to thank all of your band for making Ryan and Cara’s Wedding Day “beyond” beautiful. It would be very difficult to be brief and be able to convey the magical and phenomenal evening you helped create for all of us. I guess I would sum it up with one key word TALENT!!! Wow!!! you and your band are truly great. The wedding guests were dancing up a storm all evening long. I think you played about eight to ten genres of music, all coming together, making everyone happy. You know I like hearing all your Irish songs and my Italian American friends do also. Especially when you turn around and sing some great Italian songs in Italian. Just amazing and mixing a bunch of Rock & Roll into the middle of it. The sing-a-longs were so much fun and everyone was completely into it. “Bye-Bye Miss American Pie” to “Daughter of Mine” and so many other great songs, what can I say!!! The way you and the band were willing to share the stage with our friends that wanted to celebrate and sing a couple of songs, not every band would want to do this. You guys were all for it and this just added to the very special, beautiful celebration that it was. Your band coupled with the fantastic guests and having the ceremony at the beautiful St Mary’s Church and the Reception at the historic “Pavilion” at Emerson Park helped make it all come together for an unforgettable evening for all that were part of it. Emerson Park I would like to also add that the way you added the personal touches in songs you sang for Ryan and Cara made it so personal and from the heart. These touches were so special that it is part of what puts you and your band in a league of your own.
Thanks again, ever so much, and kindest regards–The Cuthbert and Slayton family, September 22, 2007
John and I wanted to thank you so much for the wonderful music you played at our wedding. We all had such a terrific time and all of our guests kept commenting on how excellent you all were. You got everyone up and moving!!
Thanks again for making our wedding such a memorable day in our lives. The band truly made it an unforgettable day.
Thanks so much–Fondly, John & Nancy Harkins, September 15, 2007
Thank you so much for playing at our wedding on October 8th at the Park Savoy. Everyone raved about how great your band was. We received an unbelievable amount of compliments from our guests on how much fun everyone had and it all comes down to the music being so great! I am so happy I followed in my sister’s footsteps and was able to have you play at our wedding, too.
Thanks again to you and your band! You guys were truly terrific!– Erin Drago, October 25, 2006
Just wanted to thank you for making our daughter’s wedding so special. The whole band was great and it truly exceeded our expectations. We received many compliments from our guests and everyone felt like you were giving them their “own personal concert”! They still can’t believe we had the “real Andy Cooney”. We really appreciate the way you were able to accommodate all of the unique parts of the reception (remember the elevator?) and kept everyone, even those who never dance, up on their feet and joining in all the fun. Everyone is still talking about it three months later. Thanks again for making the day exactly what Jen and Kieran had dreamed of. –God Bless, Bill and Janice Fuger, September 20, 2005, phone 845-534-5719
